The Xie Group welcomes postdoctoral fellow Asaf Tal. Asaf received his PhD in physics from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel. In his PhD he was interested in the search process of the Lambda DNA for its integration site in E. coli. He joined Xie group in February 2015 and plans to use single molecule and super resolution microscopy to study chromatin structure and organization in the mamallian nucleus. In his spare time he enjoys travelling and scuba-diving. (2/15)

The Xie Group welcomes Professor Zemin Yao to join us as a visiting scholar from University of Ottawa, after nearly a ten-year planning! Zemin is known internationally for his scholarly activities in the filed of lipoprotein metabolism and structure-function studies of apolipoproteins, lipoprotein receptors, and lipid-modifying enzymes. The single cell genome profiling technologies as well as label-free imaging techniques for visualizing intracellular components developed in Xie Group attracted Zemin to spend his sabbatical leave at Harvard. Zemin owns a Beer Garden moonlighting at his Cambridge residence, which is frequented by the patronage of Xie Group members.(9/14)

The Xie Group welcomes postdoctoral fellow Haisong Liu. Haisong received his PhD in Cell Biology from Peking University, where he studied the generation and differentiation of human and monkey induced pluripotent stem cells. Haisong joins the Xie Group to exploit single molecule imaging and single cell sequencing techniques to study stem cell behaviors including chromatin dynamics during stem cell differentiation. In his free time, Haisong enjoys playing soccer and table tennis. (9/14)
